Report 10 - Week beginning 09/03/09

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

I did a bit more doing 30 mins all runs instead of 30, 20 and 20. It was suggested (kindly) that I can catch up the week I was behind and go straight onto the new programme on 16 March.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

So pleased that we can use the spare weeks to catch up with the programme, so anyone a week behind can skip on to rejoin the programme on 16 March.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

It was quite uneventful really during the week, plodded through the two runs at night but on Sunday was raring to get the trainers on - ok maybe not exactly raring, but willing wnough.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Really have to get faster - thought this Sunday I'd be quicker than last, but covered exactly the same distance in 30 mins as last week.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

In the village on week nights on the road, and in Borgie Forest on Sunday.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

The same companions as before - they force me to do it!

Any injuries?

Had a bit of a sore knee since the Sunday run in Borgie but I'm hoping it will be gone by Tuesday's night's step up to the next stage of the programme. It looks pretty daunting so maybe the twinge in the knee is psychological. Coincidentally, the dog also had a sore leg on Sunday, but she's a fanatical athlete and doesn't let any of her pangs interfere with performance.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

Yes, all of those.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Trying to get time at the gym at lunchtimes and it's a mad rush.

Any other observations?

Getting a chance to speak to some of the Mey 10k organisers during the week and get some advice from proper runners about how to deal with the next stage of the programme was reasuring.
