Report 7 - Week beginning 22/02/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
No still on my own programme doing 3 runs a week.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
Still doing more with again managing to increase my distance on my longer weekend run.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
No real lows but having to do 2 sessions in the gym was a bit boring. The high was my Sunday morning run.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Pace still pretty slow but on the Sunday morning run it was far more undulating than anything I had done before and I coped reasonably well with the hills and again managed to increase the distance.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
I planned running on Mon, Wed and Sun this week to allow me to fit in my Squash league games that needing playing before the end of the month. On both Mon and Wed the weather was miserable and snowing thus forcing me into the gym both days on Monday I ran at a reasonably steady pace on the treadmill doing about 4 miles, and on Wed I had my first attempt at varying my pace over a 40 minute period I ran steady pace for the first 6 mins and then varied my pace until the end of the session, hopefully this should help increase my pace on my longer runs. On Sunday morning I ran with Sandra it was very pleasant morning with a slight breeze we ran from Halkirk up to Harpsdale and round the loop there and back home, I really enjoyed the run and only found the last mile a bit difficult ,the total distance we ran was 8.5miles.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Gym twice on my own and on Sunday with Sandra.
Any injuries?
Eh - well hopefully not but since I plundered the 8.5 miles on Sunday my right knee is sore - maybe I overdid the distance but hopefully it will go away.
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Continuing to feel the benefits both in training and especially away from training. Feeling so much fitter, healthier and have bags of energy compared to 2 months ago. I am also losing weight steadily.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
2 games of squash.
Any other observations?
Really enjoyed Sunday morning run and was delighted with the distance covered but maybe my sore knee is a warning not to over do things.
