Report 12 - Week beginning 29/03/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
No, as still being careful with what I do as don't want to aggravate the shins as they seem to be holding out good just now, maybe just a little achy but not as sore as the other week.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
Probable not as much as I would like to be doing but I'm being very careful with the shins.
- Monday - 2.5 mile run, again adding in my sprints.
- Wednesday - 3.7 mile run, again adding in my sprints and also doing some slight inclines as well.
- Friday - 4.2 mile run, decided to tackle the Weydale road as there's a good incline there, half way up I could feel my shins hurting a wee bit ,so I just pulled it back a bit and took it easy, then when I got home I made sure I did plenty of ice on them and they feel ok.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
I felt ok this week but do have to admit I'm constantly thinking about my shin , I so don't want to get shin splints again, and I think because I'm scared of getting them again, I'm maybe not pushing as hard as I should be.
Highs - can't think of any.
Lows - mmm, thinking too much about blooming shin splints and not pushing myself enough.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
This week I'd have to say I've seen a huge improvement in my breathing.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Still on the roads although when running from my house I'm running about half a mile on a dirt track.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Trained alone this week, and I certainly aint pushing myself as hard as I have been when out running with my hubby.
Any injuries?
Slight ache on my shin.
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Well my hubby says my bum now fills out my jeans, mmmm don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I have to say it is feeling tighter and firmer, and I'd defo say my legs have really toned up,
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
I have done a lot of walking this week and hopefully get out on my bike with the kids this week, weather permitting.
Any other observations?
I cant believe how the time is flying by, 7 weeks till the 10k, oh my god, scarey but exciting.
At the moment I'm just hoping my shins hold out, even if I have to crawl I'll make sure I get round that course, either that or someone can give me a piggy back!! Any offers welcome ha ha !!!!!
