Report 6 - Week beginning 15/02/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

No, as I had a calf injury.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

Less than expected due to resting injured calf but went a run on Friday and Saturday but only did 2 and half miles both days as didn't want to push it and the leg felt fine. Also went swimming on Friday so hopefully next week I'll get back on track.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

Training!!!! What training, never ran all week due to injury, but by Friday I had to get out and try a run as I was climbing the walls, and it felt dam good.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Definitely a huge difference in all three.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Still pounding the pavements and tackling the hills.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

The 2 runs I had this week were alone, I don't mind running on my own, but it is good to have someone there to push and encourage me.

Any injuries?

Yes strained my calf muscle, but better now..... fingers crossed.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

Yes, especially with stopping smoking.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Was only swimming once this week, but this week I'll get back to my routine.

Any other observations?

I was absolutely gutted this week, when I hurt my calf on Sunday and could hardly walk but I still wanted to go and try my run and knew I couldn't. The whole week I was like a bear with a sore head as all I thought about was when I would manage a run. So by Friday I had to give it a go and god it felt fab to get out pounding the pavements again and the leg was good. Went a run again on Saturday and again it was fab, wanted to go a run on Sunday but stopped myself as I run on a Monday, so all in all I'm hopefully over this injury and can get back on track this week. So that means I'll be happy and my family won't have me gurning because I cant get my run!!!!!!!!!! Which then makes them happy, ha ha !!
